Omnispace is assembling a world-class team of partners as it makes 5G non-terrestrial networks (NTN) a reality. TTP will play an integral role in the development of the Omnispace global 5G hybrid network, which will integrate terrestrial and satellite networks into one seamless connected experience.
In collaboration with Omnispace, TTP will lead the development of the Omnispace 5G NTN environment and emulation lab. Together the two companies will develop prototype products and demonstrate their use, on the world’s first 3GPP compliant 5G NTN network, to validate various vendor platforms, applications and devices.
The Omnispace global NGSO satellite network will utilize the company’s 2 GHz spectrum allocation, and operate in 3GPP band n256. It will deliver the power of 5G to billions of devices everywhere, enabling people and assets to communicate in real-time through a single, seamless global hybrid service. The adoption of 3GPP-defined mobile standards will make it possible for an ecosystem of device manufacturers, application solutions providers, and OEM equipment manufacturers to add 5G global, high-capacity connectivity, for the first time ever, directly to any compatible device.

TYSONS, VA. – December 12, 2019 – Omnispace, the company that is reinventing mobile communications by building one global hybrid network, welcomes the outcomes of the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-19) that was held recently in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. The WRC-19 made critical decisions regarding efficient use of global spectrum resources, including those related to the 2 GHz S-band (1980-2010 MHz/2170-2200 MHz).
By providing interference analysis and measurements, Omnispace actively participated in the studies related to the coexistence of mobile-satellite services and terrestrial mobile services in the 2 GHz S-band. Omnispace is pleased that the ITU took action by setting guidelines to protect both services, including establishing a power limit on mobile stations that transmit in the 1980-2010 MHz band or limiting the use of this band to an uplink mode (user equipment to base stations).
The WRC-19 also made the decision to balance expanding deployment of outdoor radio local area networks (RLANs) in the 5 GHz band with the current use of the band by global non-geostationary mobile-satellite services systems. These efforts represent important steps in supporting ongoing technological innovation in hybrid satellite/terrestrial networks and systems like those operated by Omnispace.

Authorization for Complementary Ground Component Is Major Regulatory Milestone and First Step towards Delivering Reliable ‘One Global Network’ Communications Worldwide
TYSONS, VA, USA. – December 3, 2019 – Omnispace today announced that its subsidiary Omnispace México S. de R.L de C.V. was successful in its bid for a concession to build and operate a terrestrial network in Mexico to complement its global satellite infrastructure. The company will be the first to converge both terrestrial and satellite communications to create a single, reliable hybrid network globally. The authorization in Mexico to provide the Complementary Ground Component (CGC) of the Mobile Satellite Service (MSS) represents the first of many major market milestones in the company’s development of its unique “one global network” communications system.
Mexico’s Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFT) awarded the CGC concession in tandem with Omnispace México’s pre-existing MSS authorization in the 2 GHz frequency band, allowing Omnispace to deploy terrestrial infrastructure in Mexico. With this unique combination of satellite and terrestrial technologies, customers in urban and rural areas will benefit from secure, reliable and cost-effective mobile connectivity and better performance from their existing mobile devices across the country. The Omnispace CGC network will operate on 4G LTE standards and support deployments in 3GPP bands 65 and 66.

Omnispace is proud to announce that it is the recipient of a Phase II contract from the U.S. Air Force’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. The company was given the award during the U.S. Air Force Space Pitch Day event, held in November in San Francisco.
The Phase II SBIR contract is focused on “Innovative Defense-Related Dual-Purpose Technologies/ Solutions with a Clear Air Force Stakeholder Need.” This contract follows on an initial Phase I SBIR contract awarded in Fall 2019, and Omnispace’s selection and participation in the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Catalyst Accelerator program in early 2019.
The Space Pitch Day is part of a new U.S. Air Force initiative designed to inspire and accelerate the delivery of new capabilities to U.S. warfighters. Led by Dr. Will Roper, Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics, the program encourages the USAF to increase its “time to market,” speed and efficiency when acquiring and awarding government contracts.
Lt. Gen. John F. Thompson, commander of the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center, which sponsored the Space Pitch Day, has repeatedly called for the evolution of space and ground systems towards a more flexible, interoperable and agile enterprise communications architecture.
